American Heart Month – Leading the Way to a Healthy Heart

The human heart is the most complex organ in our body which can also explain why heart disease is the number cause of death in the United States. However, there are many simple changes we can make in our everyday life to make sure our hearts stay healthy.

Eat healthy fat. Yes, I said it. Eat fat. There are many different fats but despite all of the rumors, you can and should eat healthy fats as your body needs it to function correctly. Fats help your body absorb vitamins and minerals and your heart cells almost run entirely on fatty acids. Examples of healthy fats would be avocados, peanut butter, olive oil, and coconut oil. Not what you expected? Great! These 4 items in particular are incredibly easy to add to your everyday diet. Cooking chicken? Instead of throwing butter in the pan, add a little olive or coconut oil. Having a deli sandwich? Switch out your mayo for some healthy avocado.

Eating healthy fat is just one example of a step toward a happy, healthy heart. I have teamed up with the American Recall Center to bring you the infographic below on other steps you can take to keep your ticker going!
