Chips. All kid’s love chips. Even adults love chips but chips are well…not the healthiest snack option. Being a mom of boys and more specifically, a toddler, getting him to eat less “junky” food can be a challenge. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to find better options of everyone’s favorite crunchy snack.
It’s all about that flavor
Boulder chips are not new to the market but they are bringing in chips cooked in unique cooking oils that I’ve never seen before. For example avocado oil, rice bran oil, and coconut oil. The best part about that is you can taste the flavor of the oils. Who doesn’t love a hint of your favorite flavor in a chip?! These oils don’t leave a gross oily residue on your hands either…though even if they did, they’re all tasty anyways.
I got my hands on 5 different flavors of Boulder Canyon chips and each one was delicious! I typically find products that are vegan and gluten-free..well..bland. I was so surprised that these chips are the exact opposite of that. They each packed a yummy natural flavor punch with a great crunch. No seriously, the crunchier the better!
If I gave my boys a bag of chips they would devour them in 5 minutes or less. Having a better-for-you chip option makes a world of difference in my always worried nutritional mind when it comes to them. I know kids, especially toddlers, can be picky and go through eating stages. They would rather starve than eat their lunch because that day they didn’t “like it anymore”. Having a bribery snack in your back pocket is exactly what you need in times like these.
My favorite..I mean their favorite flavor is the Sweet Chipotle(I have a baby mouth so anything that’s too spicy for them is too spicy for me, aka perfect for little taste buds.). So now when I make the boys a sandwich for lunch, I bribe them. Yeah, you can try to mom shame me if you’d like, I don’t care because you know what? My boys will eat every crumb of those sandwiches to get a handful of Boulder Canyon chips afterward.
Boulder Canyon chips, as great as they are, are still chips. So no, I don’t condone downing a bag when you’re craving that crunchy sensation but rather to make a better choice when it comes to the type of chip you’re purchasing. What better options of snacks have you swapped out for your kids or yourself?
