How to Keep Your Family Healthy During Flu Season

Healthy During Flu Season“Although this post is sponsored by iHerb, all thoughts and opinions are my own.”

With flu season right around the corner, now is the time to start preparing your family. Many people believe that a flu shot is all that they need but what if I told you there are many additional ways to keep your family healthy?

When your body is lacking certain nutrients, it can allow certain bacteria and germs into your system more easily. The best way to keep your family healthy during flu season is making sure everyone is taking their vitamins. Our family as a whole are very adamant about taking our daily vitamins to keep sickness at bay and here are some of our faves.

Nature’s Way, Alive! Calcium, Bone Formula

As someone who has a Vitamin D deficiency, making sure I’m soaking up the sun and eating vitamin D rich foods can be a hassle. I can try my best to do all of these things but sometimes a supplement is the right solution. Nature’s Way, Alive! Calcium is my go-to for making sure I’m absorbing all the vitamin D I can to help with my deficiency. Their calcium vitamins come from plant derived sources which make it significantly easier for your body to digest.

Healthy During Flu SeasonNature’s Way, Alive! Women’s Energy, Multivitamin-Multimineral

Even though I can be a stickler about supplements, taking my daily multivitamin is a must. Nature’s Way, Alive! Women’s Energy is the perfect boost I need to start my day. These vitamins are high potency multivitamins optimized for women. They are packed with B vitamins to convert food to energy without caffeine. Not to mention they have biotin which is perfect for your hair, skin, and nails. Don’t forget though, you should take most vitamins with food to avoid upset tummies.

Nature’s Way, Echinacea Goldenseal

I will swear up and down and recommend Nature’s Way Umcka every time because it works wonders when you’re not feeling well. Now after trying Nature’s Way, Echinacea Goldenseal, it’s the next best thing on my list for boosting my immune system to possibly help with avoiding colds. Unlike Umcka, the Echinacea Goldenseal you add a couple drops to water instead of directly in your mouth.

Healthy During Flu SeasonNature’s Way, Alive! Gummies, Multi-Vitamin for Children

My oldest is probably the most vitamin craving child I’ve ever known. He absolutely loves taking his children’s vitamins. Every day he asks if its time for him to take his Nature’s Way, Alive! Gummies yet. Their multi-vitamins for children are not like your normal gummy vitamin. They are made with a pectin base, sweetened with tapioca and dried cane syrups, and 26 fruits and vegetables. They also come in three flavors, grape, cherry, and orange. At first, the gummies appear tough and hard to eat but they are super soft when you chew them. Yes, I even tried some myself!

Healthy During Flu SeasonNature’s Way, Alive! Max3 Daily, Men’s Max Potency

Like son, like father, my husband is a strong believer in taking any all supplements he can before heading to the doctor. His current favorite vitamin is the Nature’s Way, Alive! Max3 Daily. Not only is this men’s blend of vitamin packed full of nutrients to support a man’s body, it also has lots of bonus nutrients. My husband was impressed with the additional energy & endurance blend, cardio blend, digestive enzyme blend, mushroom mycelium defense blend, and citrus bioflavonoid complex support. This Max3 Daily vitamin also has B vitamins for energy as well so he can take his workout to the max. Get it?

Nature’s Way, MCT Oil From Coconut

My husband works out and his favorite thing to do it is lift. Weightlifting not only burns lots of calories but also takes a toll on your body so replenishing it with the right oils is necessary. The hubs has added Nature’s Way, MCT Oil From Coconut to his protein shakes and said he can totally tell a difference. His energy levels rise not long after finishing his shake and he loves it. Don’t be fooled though, not all MCT Oils are made the same so pay attention to the ingredients. Nature’s Way MCT Oil is hexane free, has no palm or filler oils, and is made only from premium coconuts. As for taste, a 14 g of medium chain triglycerides serving is odorless and flavorless so you can add it to any shake of your choice.

Healthy During Flu SeasonNature’s Way, Primadophilus Reuteri Superior Probiotic

Other than family, it’s not a widely known fact that my husband has had digestive issues for a long time. When I first met him he had just finished a juice cleanse per doctors orders to see if it would help. Though he lost a ton of weight, it did nothing for him. Then he tried Nature’s Way, Primadophilus Reuteri Superior Probiotic. I know nothing about Probiotic supplements but when as I learned more about this product I was amazed.

Primadophilus Reuteri has a guaranteed potency of at least 3 billion CFU through to its expiration date. You might think cool, why does that matter? Well, it turns out that most other probiotic brands claim potency at the of time of manufacture and nothing further. What I found to be the coolest part is that L. Reuteri is a type of lactobacillus naturally found in human breast milk. Um, yes! We all know breast milk is liquid gold. Can’t be a supplement that fortifies both the large and small intestine microflora like that.

I want everyone in my family to get flu shots, but taking care of yourself certainly will help! I try to make sure to have adequate rest in addition to good nutrition to help keep germs at bay.

Usually I don’t use supplements but I do see why people use them especially during flu season. If I didn’t eat the way I do I would definitely use them too!

I rarely get sick but now would be the worse time ever! Not sure the flu is around just yet where I live. I have never heard of this brand before. Good to know them!

These things are all great for folk who aren’t getting a complete, balanced diet, I think. I worked in the health food industry for a decade and realised you can get everything you need for a healthy immune system just by eating well.

I swear by vitamins in my house! When I forget to take mine or give my 2yr old his, he’s quick to remind me. We only suffer with allergies during certain seasons because of it.

My husband and I had a terrible bout of the flu a few weeks back – but there are so many different strains going around right now. Thanks so much for your product recommendations – they save me time and research!
