When I first saw the preview for Table 19 I thought it looked good. Though I never made it to the theaters to watch I knew I would have to check it out. Anything with Anna Kendrick usually wins me over. She’s spunky, witty, and hilarious.
I received a copy of Table 19 to review before it was released and had to watch it immediately!
Table 19 stars Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Craig Robinson and other fan-favorite comedians. Eloise (Kendrick) gets dropped as the maid of honor after being dumped by her ex, the best man and bride’s brother. She struggles back and forth on attending but ultimately decides to go.
Upon arrival she finds herself seated among random strangers in the back of the ballroom. Slowly but surely, Eloise and her tablemates start to bond over the circumstances, each telling their story on how they know the bride. As the movie unfolds you learn about each character’s hidden secrets that eventually each come to light.
Without spoiling all of the details, I thought this movie was going to be a huge flop with me after watching the first 20 minutes. Little did I know the treasures it would hold. My heart strings were pulled a couple of times for totally different reasons.
Everyone’s stories hit so close to home for many people. A couple in marital distress that is screaming to be healed by a blindsided husband. Miscommunication between two partners that end in a break up with a huge secret. A nanny who doesn’t want to let go of the innocent, sweet children she once knew. A young man trying too hard to get a girlfriend and more.
You can’t help but feel each characters pain and happiness while watching Table 19. You go from disliking the best man to rooting for a swim to a loved one only to be momentarily disappointed. This movie is another film I feel has been underappreciated. I would give it an 7.5 out 10.
Give Table 19 a viewing and let me know what you think. It is now available for purchase everywhere or you can snag it at your local Redbox or Netflix on July 11th!
Table 19 sounds absolutely hilarious. The synopsis kind of reminds me of the “freaks” table on The Wedding Singer.
I didn’t know this movie existed. I will have to get it on the 11th. I love Anna Kendrick and can’t wait to watch it now! Thank for sharing 🙂
